- ABOUT ME
Jacob Quesnell
I believe therapy is a collaborative space to make sense of the challenges that impact our daily lives. My approach is grounded in a Person-Centered  foundation, with a focus on building genuine connection, understanding, and trust. As an intern, I want to continue to develop my use of CBT and solution-focused techniques to support meaningful, practical change, always aiming to meet clients where they are.
My path to counseling has been shaped by over a decade of work in human services, including supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and conducting investigations into abuse, neglect, and significant incidents. Through this work, I’ve seen how people’s experiences, environments, and support systems deeply shape their behavior and well-being. It reinforced for me the importance of feeling heard, respected, and understood, especially during difficult moments. These experiences continue to guide my perspective in therapy, where I aim to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and grounded in real understanding.
I view therapy as a process of working together, taking the time to understand each person’s experience, while helping them move forward in a way that feels authentic and manageable.
What do you do for fun?
Outside of my professional and academic work, I spend a lot of time with my wife and kids and really enjoy being present for those day-to-day moments. I like staying active and getting outdoors when I can, especially as a way to decompress and reset. In quieter moments, I enjoy watching shows or movies and just taking time to relax.
What makes you weird?
As a dad of three, I’ve developed a strong appreciation for bad jokes and fully committed to them.
What do people (e.g. clients, peers, friends, family) say about you?
Friends and family would describe me as reliable, calm, and easy to talk to, someone who listens well, shows up when it counts, and keeps things light with a bit of humor.
