- ABOUT ME
Xinyi Chen
For me, therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to navigate the challenges in your life. You are the expert on your own experience, and I bring clinical knowledge and a space to think. What you'll get from our sessions is not only more insight into yourself, but also a genuine, real relationship. I approach therapy grounded in Person-Centered Theory, drawing on Psychodynamic and Existential approaches. In our space, I will create an equal and nonjudgmental environment where you can express whatever you need to. No matter what challenges you're facing, what expectations you're holding, or what environment you're in, I want to hear from you, and to help you feel understood and seen.I n practice, this means I help people connect their past experiences with their present concerns, and I'm especially passionate about helping people work through relationship issues by breaking them down and making sense of them together. I also draw on motivational interviewing to help you build your own resilience and strengths, so you can carry these tools with you, long after our work together. I am more than happy to be with you on the journey of exploring yourself.
What do you do for fun?
I love cooking for myself during leisure time and watching TV shows. I also enjoy working out at my own pace with my favorite music.
What makes you weird?
I'm fascinated by massive creatures and prehistoric animals, especially dinosaurs.
What do people (e.g. clients, peers, friends, family) say about you?
My family and friends see me as calm, supportive and insightful.
